This page explains what personal information we collect when you book with us, stay with us, or use this website, what we do with it, and what rights you have. We have tried to write it in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.

Bookings on this site are taken through Cloudbeds, our property management and booking system. When you book we collect your name, email address, phone number, country of residence, the dates and room type you have booked, any requests you make, and your payment card details.

We need this to hold your room and to provide the accommodation you have booked. The legal basis is performance of a contract with you.

Your card details are handled by Cloudbeds and its payment providers. We do not store full card numbers on this website or on our own systems.

At check-in we confirm your booking details and may ask to see photo identification. As the keepers of a premises providing accommodation, we are required by law to keep a register of guests, and to record additional details for guests who are not nationals of the European Economic Area. The legal basis is compliance with a legal obligation.

If you phone, email, or use a form on this site, we keep your message and contact details so we can answer you and keep a record of what was agreed. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, or performance of a contract if it relates to a booking.

If you visit our premises, your image might be captured on CCTV. CCTV is deployed in our premises for safety, security and administrative purposes.

Our website collects standard technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit, and the time of your visit. This is used to keep the site running and secure, and to understand how it is used. See our Cookie Policy for what is set in your browser and how to control it.

We send emails only to people who have asked for them. You can unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of it.

We share personal information only with the companies that help us run the hostel, and only as much as they need:

• Cloudbeds, our booking and property management system
• Pricepoint, our rate management system, which works from booking and availability data
• Booking sites, such as Booking.com or Hostelworld, where you booked through them rather than with us directly. In that case they collect your details first and pass them to us, and their own privacy policy applies to what they hold.
• Payment providers, for processing card payments
• Our accountants and, where legally required, the Revenue Commissioners or An Garda Síochána

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

Some of these providers operate outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, transfers are covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

• Booking and payment records: seven years, to meet tax and accounting requirements
• Guest register entries: held up to a year after our last correspondence
• Inquiries and correspondence: two years from your last contact with us
• CCTV footage: 30 days
• Marketing consent records: until you unsubscribe, and for two years afterwards as proof that consent was given

Under the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 you can ask us to:

• confirm whether we hold information about you, and give you a copy of it
• correct anything that is wrong or incomplete
• delete information we no longer need
• restrict what we do with it while a question about it is resolved
• provide it in a portable format, or send it to another provider
• stop processing it where we are relying on legitimate interests
• withdraw consent at any time, where consent is what we relied on

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, or at dataprotection.ie.

Guests under 18 can stay with us only in a private room, or a room booked out completely accompanied by a parent or guardian, and we collect their details from the adult making the booking. We do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 18 through this website.

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including restricting access to it and relying on established providers for booking and payment handling. No website or system can be completely secure, so if you would prefer to give us sensitive details by phone rather than online, ring reception and we will take them that way.

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant we will say so on the website.
